Interior Design Terms & Conditions

Please see below our terms and conditions that relate to all made to measure items, interior design service, upholstery and bespoke furniture. If you need any information on any of our made to measure items or our order process, please call 01226 767124.

Quotes & Design Proposals

All quotes & design proposals are valid for 14 days from date of issue. Quotes are based on current supplier price lists. Any additional requests to original proposals must be paid for upfront in full or by means of a deposit. Where necessary Marsh & Co. will be more than happy to assist you when estimating fabric requirements.

VAT is included on all quotes and design proposals at 20%

Please be aware that although we provide guidance the final choice of all designs including all colours, fabrics, styles and specification are the customer’s responsibility. Our 3D visualisations and CAD drawings are a representation of the intended scheme and colours. On screen representations may be different to in situe. Where possible we strongly advise you to order samples where necessary to ensure you are happy before placing an order.


Order Process

To order or instruct Marsh & Co. as your interior designer and project coordinator please call our sales line on 01226 767124. Our friendly helpful staff will guide you through the process and communicate current lead times and payment terms.

You may be required to supply any sizes and fabric details in writing if we are unable to measure because of distance. Once we have checked through your order we will supply you with a written design proposal by either e maill. Upon receipt of this we ask that you kindly check that all details, sizes and fabric details are correct.

To place an order on any made to measure products you will be asked to supply your name, delivery address, contact details, and payment method.

Deposits on made to measure and bespoke items are non refundable as we will be using your deposit to allocate time and resources and to purchase all the materials for your order.

Any additional requests or items added to interior design proposals will need to be paid for in full or subject to our normal payment terms.


Payment Terms

Design Consultation Fee:

A 25% fee of the estimated project cost is required to engage Marsh & Co. as your interior designers. This fee covers the initial consultation and development of your design proposal, procurement, material selection, 3D visualisation and technical drawings.

Deposit Requirement:

A 60% deposit is required at the time of order confirmation for all bespoke, made-to-measure items. This deposit secures your order and initiates the production process.

Final Payment:

The remaining balance is due one week prior to delivery / commencing installation. This ensures your delivery and fitting slots are secured.

Full Payment for Standard Items:

Full payment is required at the time of order placement for standard furniture, lighting, soft. furnishings, and accessories.

Monthly Invoicing for Larger Projects:

For larger projects, interior design and project management fees will be invoiced at the end of each month. This structured payment schedule supports the ongoing progress of your project.

Sub-Contractor Invoices:

Exterior trades and sub-contractors will invoice directly to the client. All sub-contractor invoices will be managed by their respective trades and are due upon completion of their work or in accordance with their own payment terms.

Impact of Delayed Payments:

Timely payments are crucial. If staged payments are delayed for any reason, it can significantly impact the project timeline and delay progress. Invoices that remain unpaid after

A late payment fee of 5% of the outstanding balance will be applied for payments not received by 14 working days of the due date.

Payments that are more than 30 days overdue will be subject to enforcement charges and interest. The Company reserves the right to charge interest at a rate of 10% per annum on overdue amounts, calculated daily from the due date until payment is received in full.


Measuring & site surveys

Where we can Marsh & Co. will always conduct a site survey and will take responsibility for all measurements.

If we have arrange a free site survey and consultation it is the customers responsibility to be at the property. Missed appointments and consultation will be subject to a cancellation charge.

For smaller made to measure items Marsh & Co. will be happy to give instructions on how to measure accurately. For the purposes of estimating Marsh & Co. can work to approximate sizes for curtains, blinds and soft furnishings however, Marsh & Co. recommends that all curtain tracks and poles be fitted before final measurements are submitted. Measurements must be supplied in writing. Marsh & Co. cannot be held responsible for mistakes made by customers when measuring.

For bespoke furniture and upholstery, it is the customers responsibility that the furniture can be delivered into the room for which it is intended. Marsh & Co. cannot be responsible for furniture that is orders and cannot be delivered due to access issues.


Delivery

Please allow up to 6 weeks for delivery of our made to measure soft furnishings. Please allow 8 weeks for re upholstery orders. We only intend to take your furniture away for as limited a time as possible and will communicate a collection and delivery time when placing your order. For bespoke furniture and cabinetry, all of our frames are made specifically for each individual order, please allow 10 - 12 weeks for all bespoke upholstery and cabinetry orders. If for any reason delays are caused by fabrics or materials being out of stock we will communicate this with you as soon as possible. If these delays cause problems with your deadline we can refund your deposit or help you find alternative fabrics.  

For larger interior design projects we will communicate all project timings at the time of ordering

If you are measuring for curtains and blinds yourself, all sizes, measurements and designs must be confirmed in writing before we proceed with any made to measure order.

When your order is complete we will contact you to arrange a convenient day and place for your delivery. Parcels normally require a signature so if it helps we can deliver to a work address or a neighbour. Our friendly and helpful staff will always help you work to a realistic delivery schedule. All postage and packaging costs are as quoted.

For upholstery, furniture and installations we work between the hours of 9.00am and 3.00pm and payment is due on or before the day of installation. Marsh & Co. will not dispatch any item via courier from our workroom without payment in full.


Receipt / Installation of Goods

Please check all goods for damage upon receipt / installation, Marsh & Co. cannot be held responsible for goods that have been damaged in transit once the goods have been signed for. Please check all items before signing for them, If a friend or neighbour is signing for the goods we would advise that you ask them to check all the goods for damage before signing for the delivery. Upon receipt of your goods, please check all sizes, measurements and fabric details are correct.

For made to measure orders, cabinetry, upholstery , soft furnishings and furniture, please check for any faults in size, fabric or finish. Marsh & Co. rigorously checks all sizes, materials and fabrics for defects or faults before and after they are manufactured and installed. If for any reason there are faults with our products or any damage has been caused during installation these must be reported to Marsh & Co. within 48 hours.


Returns / Cancellations

Unfortunately Marsh & Co. cannot accept returns on any made to measure products including hand made curtains, blinds, upholstery, bespoke furniture, cabinetry, tracks and poles. If for any reason there are faults with any of our products or any damage has been caused during installation these must be reported to Marsh & Co. within 48 hours. We regret that we cannot except returns on made to measure items unless they are deemed faulty. Although we will advise you where necessary, Marsh & Co. cannot be held responsible for any choice of fabric, materials or design.

All bespoke upholstery and cabinetry will require customer sign off before ordering. Once an item has been signed off and the deposit has been paid, deposits are non refundable for any bespoke items or design services.

Fabrics

As your fabric order has been cut to order we do not accept returns on fabrics. In some cases on orders over 5 meters we will accept returns but this could incur a handling fee of up to 50% off the value of the order. This will depend on the supplier. Upon receipt of your deposit your fabrics will be ordered and cut specifically for your order, it is for this reason it is difficult to refund deposits with incurring a handling charge.

Non made to measure items

For wallpaper, Marsh & Co. will only accept complete orders, we do not allow returns on part orders. We do not allow returns on paint orders.

All other items such as furniture, rugs, cushions, lighting may be returned within 14 days of delivery. Items must be returned undamaged and in their original packaging. To return an item we must be notified withing 14 days of delivery. For a full refund goods must be sent back within 14 working days of Marsh & Co. being notified of the return.

Please inspect your items when you receive them. For fabrics and wallpapers, please check you are happy prior to cutting or hanging. If your order arrives damaged or faulty please let us know within 48 hours of delivery.

Installation

Marsh & Co. recommends that you use a professional to hang or dress your curtains and your wallpaper, however, Marsh & Co. cannot be held responsible for any contractors or any damage caused by them when fitting our products. Please bear in mind that all fabrics will eventually fade. To reduce natural fading we recommend the use of a good quality lining. Fabrics should be kept out of natural sunlight. Certain fabrics like silk are more prone to fading than others. All our fabrics are rigorously checked for defects. It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure that the correct cleaning method is used.

For interior design, kitchen and bespoke cabinetry installations for insurance purposes Marsh & Co. will only use our team of approved installers and tradesmen.
